Happy Chinese New Year! Decorating the home in red, lighting candles and setting off firecrackers are a tradition for every Chinese New Year.
However, there are things that you shouldn’t do as well. Some are only on the first day of Chinese New Year, and others are for the whole New Year Festival season. So here are some TABOO that you should not do at home this CNY;
No Sweeping

On the first day of the lunar new year, the act of sweeping and taking out the trash is associate with dumping out good luck and good fortune from the house.
No Washing of Hair
Hair must not be washed on the first day of the lunar year, as the pronunciation of hair is similar to “fa” in 发财” which means good wealth. So it is not advisable to wash away one’s good fortune at the start of the new year.
Avoid Breaking Dishes

Breaking dishes or any other equipment during the New Year Festival season is associate with the loss of wealth. Therefore it is advised to take great precautions to prevent it.
